Fall height refers to the highest point on a playground where a child could reasonably stand and potentially fall from. That measurement determines the level of impact protection the surfacing below must provide to help reduce the risk of serious injury. Because every playground is different, the surfacing system must be specifically matched to the equipment above it — not every material or thickness works for every project. Warranty coverage for safety surfacing can vary depending on the material selected, site conditions, and overall scope of the project. Most surfacing warranties typically range from 1–5 years and are reviewed on a project-by-project basis so expectations are clear from the beginning.
